My Netflix queue is empty! What to watch now? When we began using Netflix several years ago we first were catching up on lots of TV series where we may have seen a few episodes, but wanted to go back and catch them all: Monk, Lost, Numb3rs, etc. But now we are caught up on our favorite shows and there aren't very many movies that we're interested in, so I find myself trying to figure out what to fill my Netflix queue with.I gave up on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine in about it's 2nd or 3rd season. ...

Enid and I took our 30-mile ride today. We started out of Havensville on monster hills. They almost killed us in the first 3 miles and I discovered that my gears aren't working right: They're bent. When in my top gear my derailleurs are hitting the spokes. I suspect they got bent up when I took my fall on our 20-mile ride. We continued on over many more hills and made it our 30 miles, so we're satisfied by very tired. While we were on our ride, Oma took Ora 5 and rode from Havensville to Onaga. A 6-mile ...

"my drink. my drink."

Enid told me that she got the kids shakes today. Ora 5 tried to take Ewan's shake after having drank his own and Ewan pitifully cried "my drink. my drink."

I saw this on CNN.com today: Typo vigilantes banned from national parks. Apparently these 2 guys went around correcting apostrophes on National Park signs. It reminded me of the book Eats, Shoots & Leaves by Lynne Truss:What about telling people to shin up ladders at dead of night with an apostrophe-shaped stencil and a tin of paint? Why did the Apostrophe Protection Society not have a militant wing? Could I start one? Where do you get balaclavas?Well these 2 guys have done it! They corrected an apostrophe and a comma, but stopped short of ...

Tonight's work project was basement work. Part of the basement leaks water which carries a lot of mud with it. So Ora 5 and I started by sweeping up, then mopping. Then we mixed a batch of cement and patched all the holes. We'll come back in a few days and paint it with dry lock.

The new ice maker arrived tonight, so with the help of Ora 5 and Aspen, I uninstalled the old one and put the new one in. Tomorrow we'll see I did it right.

When we were leaving Wal-Mart, where Ora 5 was denied his request to buy Tic-Tacs (he had already spent his allowance), Ora said "I need Tic-Tacs in case my girlfriend comes over." Ora has been infatuated with a couple of different girls so it was unclear who he was talking about, but I though it would be interesting to see where this went:"Why do you need Tic-Tacs if your girlfriend comes over?" I asked."So my breath smells good.""Why do you need good smelling breath for your girlfriend?""In case she kisses me."

We were about to go eat this evening (since the fridge had no edible leftovers) when our neighbor came over and told us that Saturday night a police chase had sent cars speeding down our street and the perps were throwing guns out the window. In his yard he found a loaded magazine and random bullets and in our yard the police found a loaded handgun. We were at a friend's house on Saturday, so we didn't know any of this.He recommended we look through our yard to make sure that there wasn't anything else. He didn't want ...

Enid called me at work this afternoon and told me everything in the freezer had thawed. Not only was this signs that my fridge might not be working, but I may have broken it. Last night I decided it was time to fix the ice maker and I began tinkering with the water lines to see if water was flowing to the ice maker properly. Water was making it to the water inlet valve, but not from there up to the ice maker. So there is either a problem with the water inlet valve or the signal that comes ...
